LORI BABINEC, bassoon
August 9-10

Lori Babinec, the Festival orchestra’s personnel manager/librarian and principal bassoonist for the past fifteen years, began her study of music with the piano at the age of four. She began bassoon lessons when she was twelve and later received a fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in that instrument.

The assistant librarian of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, she also performed as a substitute player with the orchestra for many years. Currently she serves as personnel manager/librarian with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra as well as with the Woodstock Mozart Festival.

Ms. Babinec is active as a performer in the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra, Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, Skylight Opera Orchestra, Festival City Symphony, and Bel Canto Chamber Orchestra. She maintains a private teaching studio and has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Wisconsin Conservatory of Music and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

As the proprietor of Laurel Cottage Music, she engages in professional music copying and orchestral library work for many organizations.
