OLGA VINOKUR, piano
August 2-3

A native of Russia, Olga Vinokur began her piano studies at the age of six and was awarded first prize in the National Young Artists Competition at the age of twelve. Since then she has been the recipient of numerous awards and prizes including another first prize in the Prokofiev Piano competition in her native country.

As a scholarship recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation, she moved to Israel and received her Bachelor’s Degree at the Rubin Academy of Music of Tel-Aviv University. She then continued her studies at the Manhatten School of Music in New York where she received her Master of Music degree and is a doctoral candidate.

Miss Vinokur’s career has taken her to many countries where she has performed as soloist, chamber musician and with orchestra. Her concerts have been broadcast on the Israeli “Voice of Music” radio station, Russian National Public Radio and New York radio stations. In New York she has performed in Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall, in Alice Tully Hall, Merkin Hall, at Town Hall and Bargemusic. Other U.S. engagements have taken her to Washington, Philadelphia, Boston, Los Angeles and Florida and also back to her native Russia.

Olga Vinokur is featured in the film documentary “Women of Music”, a classical music series on Bravo TV which features interviews and performances by classical artists from around the world who are noted for their excellence. Her new solo CD is available on the Bars Media label.

“It was a spectacular opening event… The restored Steinway has a rich and glorious sound which was sumptuously demonstrated by Vinokur’s program and her keyboard prowess. What more could a concert goer wish?” NEWS-TIMES, New York
