Fall 2014

Welcome Winter!

From the Artistic and General Director
We thank those of you who attended our concerts this summer. As you know, the orchestra never played better and the soloists were amazing. With very special enhancement provided by two charming venues, the Woodstock Opera House and Sanfilippo’s Place de la Musique, we hope you will treasure the special moments you experienced at our 2014 performances as we anticipate another wonderful season in 2015.
Anita Whalen

What a night…what a performance so brilliantly performed by clarinetist Alexander Fiterstein and maestro Istvan Jaray! (pictured with artistic and general director Anita Whalen) Many musicians attended the post-concert gala, and those who are principal chair instrumental leaders in the orchestra met their sponsors…always moving and joyful.

Thank you Marsha Portnoy and Judysharon Buck for organizing a wonderful event enjoyed by so many.

On May 18th, our Resident Trio played a beautiful concert in the gorgeous Great Hall of the Cuneo Mansion in Vernon Hills. It was a perfect spring day, sunshine and all. Although the mansion is undergoing renovations in 2015, the trio will play there again in 2016.

The Festival is very fortunate to employ two highly professional marketing personnel: Chicago based Jill Chukerman of JAC Communications and Jack Bechaud, the Social Networker, from Marengo.

With more than 30 years of experience, Jill’s professionalism stems from her posts as Communications Manager in Corporate Communications and the Public Affairs Departments of Playboy Enterprises, Inc. where she handled media relations for CEO Christie Hefner. She also spent seven years as Director of Communications for the League of Chicago Theatres/Chicago Theatre Foundation. As founder of JAC Communications, she handles publications and public relations programs for corporate and nonprofit clients like us.

Jack Bechaud is a seasoned sales and marketing professional with over 25 year of experience as a result of his work at McGraw-Hill, Siemens, and Merrill Chase Art Galleries. His social media expertise has made him sought after for his ability to build consensus and product following. In addition to his contractual work for the Festival, Jack is a classical music enthusiast who serves as Vice President of the McHenry County Convention and Visitors Bureau board. In this role he has organized and will lead an approach to group sales for the Festival by targeting Chicago area university professors (active and retired) and constituencies of foreign consulates.

on Saturday, April 11, 2015!
Those who attended our 2014 Spring Benefit at the Place de la Musique on the Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington Hills last April know what a fabulous experience it was! Clearly a repeat performance is in order for those who missed the occasion and for those who would like to enjoy another look and listen at this fabulous Grand Epoch mansion and museum of the world’s largest collection of antique music machines and instruments. The 2015 event begins at 5:00 with a tour of the mansion and museum; concert at 6:30 with surprise performers to be announced; buffet in the Carousel Pavilion at 7:30 and more….

Because the collection is in the private home of Marion and Jasper Sanfilippo, you will need an invitation to attend. If interested, please let us know. Send your name and street address to mozartfest@aol.com.

SPECIAL THANKS…The Woodstock Mozart Festival was pleased to receive $1,000 from the Allstate Foundation in honor of Allstate Agent Maria Beata Kapelski. She led a group of young volunteers at the 2014 Benefit. Our sincerest appreciation again to Beata.

Did You Know?

…that plans for the Festival’s seasons begin two to three years ahead?
…that next year’s concert artists and some repertoire were in place within days after the 2014 season ended… AND that plans for the 2016 season’s visiting conductors and artists are almost complete?

If you enjoy the Festival and look forward to future concerts, please help us continue bringing you world class performances to the two beautiful historic locations in which we perform. Keep in mind the affordable ticket prices, absence of parking fees and even reduced driving time and costs, and consider sharing some of your savings by making a tax deductible contribution during our 2014 year-end appeal. Or send a check now to the Woodstock Mozart Festival; P.O. Box 734; Woodstock, IL 60098

All of us, musicians, board of directors and I are deeply grateful for your assistance. Together we extend our warmest wishes to you and yours for the healthiest and happiest of holiday seasons.
